Education
Zoos not only keep animals to give visitors a nice outing, they
also want their guests to learn something. The animals do not just
represent their wild brethren but also form the connection to their
original habitats (biotopes) and the plants and animals that occur
there.
Burgers' wants to let its more than 1.5 million visitors enjoy the
sometimes amazing and always fascinating nature by presenting the
animals in their natural habitat as much as possible. When visitors
get that feeling of amazement an important goal of Burgers' has
been reached and its second goal, actively contributing to the
protection of nature and the environment, will be a step
closer.
In addition, a zoo is an ideal place to further your knowledge in
the biology of all those animals (and plants). The basic
information for this anyone can get from the information boards at
the accommodations, but there are many more possibilities. For
instance, there are exhibits, tours, lectures, lessons and
practical work and subscribers get a free bi-monthly magazine in
which current events are listed with some interesting background
information.
So education does not only take place in a classroom! The entire
park is engulfed in it. The modern way the park is shaped with its
realistic living environments and eco-displays, is the best
possible way to get anyone acquainted with the animal and its
natural habitat.
IVN
The Institute for Nature Conservation Education (IVN) has worked
closely with Burgers' Zoo for many years and supplies a large
number of enthusiastic IVN guides. These guides lead many thousands
of visitors through Burgers' Zoo each year and have all sorts of
amazing and interesting facts about the animals and eco-displays to
tell you. Some IVN guides have been working at Burgers' Zoo for
over 20 years!
They provide these tours on a voluntary basis for us and are
invaluable to Burgers' Zoo functioning correctly just like our
employees.

ZieZoo
Burgers' Zoo's magazine, ZieZoo, is issued bimonthly to
subscription holders and employees. ZieZoo contains news articles
regarding the animals, their new quarters or for example concerning
national and international activities undertaken by Burgers' Zoo.
It also announces forthcoming talks, special functions and other
events being organised by us.
The purpose of ZieZoo is as follows: as a result of a news
worthy event about an animal do an in-depth report and in doing so
present the reader with details about the animal's behaviour and
their natural environment in an easy but informed way. ZieZoo's
articles are written by different biologists working within
Burgers' Zoo.
ZieZoo has been in publication for many years and started out
providing information material for the many IVN guides giving tours
round Burgers' Zoo and is frequently used to supports all sorts of
other activities. It is a modern magazine with a fresh, colourful
layout that is read with great pleasure by thousands of people.
In the News section on this web-site you will regularly find
